George Richards Minot (1885-1950) Was professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. He first introduced, with William Murphy, a diet of raw liver for treating pernicious anemia. He shared the 1934 Nobel Prize in Medicine or Physiology with Drs. Murphy and Whipple for their work on pernicious anemia. James Jackson (1777-1867) was the second Hersey Professor of the Theory & Practice of Physic at Harvard Medical School. He was the first American to apply scientific investigation to the study of vaccination and the first to describe the peripheral neuritis of alcoholism. This is a fine biographical note by one great physician of another.
