Edward Constant Sequin (1843-1898) was a noted neurologist who had studied in France with Brown-Séquard and Charcot. His papers on aphasia, infantile paralysis, paraplegia and above all the localization of brain lesions did much to stimulate interest in neuro-anatomy and neurology. It should also be mentioned that Sequin played an important role in introducing medical thermometry to the American medical community. The work was done by W. H. Draper. They presented what was likely the first temperature chart on a medical record in the U.S. It was called "A Record of Vital Signs" which included heart and respiratory rates.
