James C. Ewart (1851-1933) was a zoologist who held the chair as Regius Profgessor of Natural Hsitory at the University of Edinburgh from 1882 until his retirement in 1927. Early in his career, while in London, he wrote a number oif papers on the structure of the retina and lens.
