This paper is Garrison-Morton 1487. The report includes the first description of astigmatism, with measurements and optical constants. Thomas Young (1773-1829) was a renowned physician, physicist and Egyptologist. He is considered the father of physiological optics. In addition to the above work, he also discovered the mechanism by which the lens of the eye changes shape (accommodation) in focusing on objects at different distances (G-M 1486). in later research he established the wave theory of light, explaining interference and dispersion (G-M 1488). The current paper is important both as a physiological-physical study but also for its critical clinical applications. Uncommon. 4to. pps. 23-88 + Six engraved plates.
